Before it Breaks is a collaborative visual album directed by Otis Tree, set to the music of Mowen.
The project merges Mowen’s signature sound - built on ambient soundscapes, shoegaze textures, jazz sensibilities, and crescendoing saxophones - with a cinematic narrative set across London. Drawing on Otis Tree’s recent editing and visual work on Charli XCX’s album Music Fashion Film, Before it Breaks crafts a tapestry of intertwined vignettes following distinct characters across the capital, held together by the pulse of a local radio station and the tension of an approaching storm.
Hemlock is the first release from the upcoming visual album Before It Breaks.
Shot entirely on thermal imaging, the film applies a cold, clinical lens to the rawest moments of an intimate relationship. By capturing human heat signatures through the medium of surveillance technology, Hemlock explores the stark tension between modern connectivity, digital observation, and the overwhelming urge to isolate.
